APAC 2023

APAC, International Conference on Asian and Pacific Coasts

The goal of the APAC is to promote academic and technical exchange on coastal related studies among researchers and engineers of Asian and Pacific countries and regions. Focuses of APAC cover a wide range of topics such as coastal waves, nearshore currents, coastal structures, sediment transport, coastal morphology, beach nourishment, natural hazards and coastal management.  APAC is jointly supported by the Chinese Ocean Engineering Society (COES), the Coastal Engineering Committee of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE), and the Korean Society of Coastal and Ocean Engineers (KSCOE).

The Conference is held once every two years. The first conference was held in Dalian, China in 2001 by the name of Asian and Pacific Coastal Engineering (APACE). To reflect a broader scope, the conference was renamed to Asian and Pacific Coasts (APAC) and it was subsequently held every two years in different countries including Japan (2004), Korea (2005), China (2007), Singapore (2009), Hongkong (2011), Indonesia (2013), India (2015), Philippines (2017) and Vietnam (2019). The 11th conference to be held in Kyoto was postponed to 2023 due to COVID pandemic.

Hybrid (onsite/online) conference

Each presentation has 15min (12min presentation and 3min discussions). We will provide a hybrid conference venue, allowing for offline listening and Q&A. To facilitate a hybrid conference, we encourage participants to bring your own laptops, earphones (howling prevention purpose), and portable WiFi. See the illustration below for an overview of the basic configuration of the hybrid conference.

• The Executive Committee has been discussing ways to implement hybrid competitions within a limited budget. As shown in the sketch below, we decided to conduct a hybrid conference using the audio interface in combination with the method previously shown. Also, since the capacity of each session room is limited, a separate room (Room 5 & Room 6) has been prepared. From a separate room, you can use pocket Wifi, earphones, and laptops to access the zoom address of each session and join the session. You will need pocket Wifi, earphones and a laptop when you join from separate room, so please bring them with you. To prevent howling, be sure to turn on audio mute. Thank you and best regards.

Note: Room 5 will not be available on November 17 from 10:40 to 14:20.
