At 14:46 local time on March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake occurred off the coast of northeast Japan. This earthquake caused a tsunami which attacked Japan as well as a wide range of localities around the Pacific Ocean. This site provides information following the 2011 Tohoku Pacific Ocean Tsunami and is maintained by the Coastal Engineering Committee of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers. The site is run by volunteers, and although effort is being made to attempt to keep it useful to the international community, much of the data and reports are in Japanese.

- The following figures show the latest results from all the Japanese Survey Teams. They include data collected from the Japanese Coastal Engineering Committee groups and other data provided by Japanese prefectural and local authorities (figures updated on the 5th July 2011). For more detailed information please refer to the Japanese pages (you need to have installed the fonts for East-Asian characters, and it is then possible to use google chrome to translate the webpage).
